The Green IT Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community of leaders working to make sustainable IT within international corporations, governments, and NGO’s to make it a reality. 


The mission of the Green IT Council is to educate, motivate, and transform IT professionals and organizations into Sustainable IT practitioners. The triple bottom line of Green IT is that the people are more strategic and effective; the planet is more environmentally sound, and the economic impact sustains profitability.

Corporate Statement

The Green IT Council strives to be an international organization promoting sustainable information technology to achieve positive economic impact, a cleaner environment, and greater energy efficiency within data centers and the entire information technology enterprise. To achieve this goal, the Green IT Council:

  •  Leads worldwide IT energy efficiency initiatives in research, policy advocacy, education, technology deployment and communications that impact all sectors of the economy;
  • Provides vision and guidance through its board of directors, which includes leaders from business, government, the public interest sector, and education;
  • Initiates and participates in public-private partnerships, collaborative efforts, rating systems, and strategic alliances to optimize resources and expand its sphere of influence; and
  • Executes its mission through a team of recognized sustainability experts, C-Level Executives, and IT professionals.
